NOLO
The formal manual for the Nooralotta Neziri brand identity — mark, color, type, voice, photography, application.
Ten plates. Read in order on first issue. After that, navigate by section number.
The brand runs on lightning. Three terms, three roles, one honest line that holds the whole identity together — and is, taken literally, true.
The metaphor is not borrowed. It is pulled from the athlete's actual arc. The bolt arrived in Berlin on the 6th of February, 2021: 7.91 seconds in the 60-metre hurdles indoors, a Finnish national record. Four full outdoor seasons followed without breaking thirteen seconds in the 100-metre hurdles — an event she had already broken many times. The bolt left. She tended the fire. In 2025, the first season she coached herself, the fire caught: 12.73 seconds, first personal best in nine years.
Every piece of brand expression shall be checkable against this trinity. If a sentence implies the reader will receive the bolt, it shall be rewritten. If it implies easy gains, it shall be rewritten. The honest promise is: she passes on the spark. The reader tends their own fire. § 05.02
The bolt is hers.
The fire is yours.
| Term | Meaning | Where it lives | Cross-ref |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bolt | A specific moment of arrival. The record. Lightning. Hers. | Private. Cannot be transferred. | § 05.01 |
| Fire | The disciplined, tended thing. The method itself. | Public. Teachable. Tuesday and Saturday for fifteen years. | § 07.02 |
| Spark | The seed that ignites the fire in someone new. | What coaching transfers. Not the record. Not the result. | § 05.03 |
Three terms. No further extension. The metaphor stops here. Thunder, storm, voltage, current, charge — all dilute. The trinity is closed.
The NOLO mark is locked. It shall not be redrawn, retraced, recolored, or "modernized." This section documents how it must be reproduced and surrounded.
No type, no imagery, no other marks shall enter the dashed frame. Clear space scales with the mark.

The emblem's gradient does not survive amber's luminance. On amber surfaces the mark shall appear as a bone-coloured knockout silhouette. The full-colour emblem shall not sit directly on amber.
| Surface | Minimum size | Recommended size | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Digital · screen | 24 px | 48–160 px | Below 24 px, use NOLO wordmark. |
| Print · standard | 10 mm | 20–60 mm | Measured by mark height (the bounding box). |
| Print · small format | 8 mm | 12–20 mm | Business cards, tags. Verify by proof. |
| Large format | ∞ | — | No upper limit. Preserve proportions strictly. |
The palette is small by design. The athlete world lives on ink. The coach world lives on bone. A single amber accent does all the heavy lifting on both sides.
The athlete-world background. Editorial body type sits on this.
The coach-world background. The print register. Brandbook paper.
The bolt. The record. Records and figures only. One per screen.
Amber on hover. Amber on cream surfaces. Print fallback.
Card surface on ink. Layered cards. Sparingly.
The cream half after the passage cut. Coach world.
Secondary text on ink. Captions. Eyebrow detail.
Secondary text on bone. Captions in the coach world.
The light stop of the mark gradient. Inside the mark only.
The dark stop of the mark gradient. Inside the mark only.
Pantone values are approximations for matching purposes. For final production, request a Pantone bridge proof. CMYK values assume coated stock; for uncoated, adjust according to printer's standard.
Big Shoulders Display does the shouting. Fraunces does the breathing. JetBrains Mono does the labelling. All three shall appear on any page that calls itself NOLO. None shall be substituted.
The voice is that of a long-form magazine profile — measured, broadcast-weight, never marketing. It names a feeling and lets the reader self-identify. It does not sell the bolt.
Direct-response techniques — the "you" framing, the transformation arc, the urgency play — shall not appear in NOLO copy. The brand carries the credential of an Olympic record. Any reader who belongs will recognize themselves in the description of the work. No one shall be told they need this.
Brand-line scope. The line "The bolt is hers. The fire is yours." belongs to the coaching context — the moment where the brand resolves into what it passes on. It shall not appear on athletic-record pages or long-form story pages; those close on their own canonical refrains pulled from the story's source text. The brand line shall not be remixed, paraphrased, or set in a commercial frame.
Image is the part of the brand most easily devalued by shortcuts. The rules in this section are non-negotiable.
Three example surfaces. The system is editorial discipline first, identity second. The mark never carries the page alone.
